Jungle - Emma Louise
March and February were very similar for me. There were some great albums released, disappointing albums, and wonderful singles. Odd Future did it again with their compilation album The Of Tape, Vol. 2. Its awesome listening to all the guys rap together and then its especially great to hear Tyler tear it up. After too long, Chromatics came back with their album Kill for Love. The song Kill for Love may be my favorite of the year so far and the album as a whole is wonderful. The band kept their dreamy feel but added a plethora of emotions to their plate. After falling in love with Crazy for You, I was very disappointed with The Only Place. It lacked the care-free fun California style garage rock and replaced it with studio molded crap. Anyways, enjoy!
Jungle - Emma Louise
Australian born Emma Louise moved her way into the music
scene with this track. She uses her voice with incredible versatility: adding more
emotion to the song.
My favorite song from the new OF LP, “Rella” is a classic
example of OF hip-hop. Including great raps from Hodgy Beats and Domo Genesis, this
song really deserves its praise from Tyler’s verse.
Kill for Love –
Chromatics
The title track from the recent Chromatics album, Kill for
Love combines the dreamlike feel with poppy love ballad.
Simple Song – The
Shins
The big single from The Shins upcoming album. Simple Song is
catchy and brings a lot of excitement and energy similar to their earlier song Phantom
Limb.
The Only Place – Best
Coast
The only song I like from the new album. It is the only one
that sounds as fresh and experimental as their album Crazy For You. And singing
about California is classic Best Coast.
This Head That I Hold
– Electric Guest
Even though Danger Mouse produces Electric Guest, this band
is still virtually unheard of. Can you hear the Gnarls Barkley in it?
Break My Heart – La
Sera
I love the combination of Lo-Fi rock with a high voice like
La Sera. And her short songs are like musical candy: sweet but never satisfied with
just one.
The Kids Were Wrong –
Memoryhouse
This dreamy pop song sounds like a poppier Beach House. For amateur
musicians this is a great start and I am excited to see them develop more.
