Valentines Day Playlist 2012

Happy Valentines Day Readers!

This Valentines Day, I’ve decided to make a playlist that combines songs my girlfriend Claire has given me and songs that I have deemed worthy and made an ULTIMATE VALENTINES DAY PLAYLIST. Claire writes a pretty great blog too. Check it out!

Anyways, they are all great songs mostly from the 2000s and if Valentines Day isn’t your thing, the last song is for you.

1. How Beautiful You Are – Lovers
The name itself just looks perfect for a Valentines Day playlist. But I also love the soft melody.

2. True Love Will Find You In The End – Daniel Johnston
This song is so simple, a man and his guitar talking about love. Something about his voice always reaffirms me that it will always be ok.

3. Anyone Else But You – The Moldy Peaches
You probably recognize this gem from Juno! I’m a sucker for duets, especially when they’re love ballads.

4. Down By The Water – The Drums
I love how high the vocals go in contrast with the deep bass and guitar. Also, pretty catchy if you ask me.

5. All Is Love – The Tallest Man on Earth
One of my favorite artists of 2010, TTMOE has such a unique voice. He is also
said to have some of the best stage presents around.

6. I’m On Fire – Chromatics
Very dreamy and surreal background with matching vocals. This is also on iTunes’ Valentines Day Playlist, but I had it here first.

7. Brand New Colony – The Postal Service
Very underrated Postal Service song. I love the Super Mario-esque intro and Ben Gibbards voice. Poor Ben Gibbard, he won’t be enjoying this Valentines Day without Zooey Dechanel.

8. Home – Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
I hope most of you have this song already. Another amazing duet. One of the best lines on the playlist is “home is whenever I’m with you”. So true! Also great if you enjoy whistling.

 9. You My Love – Marcus Foster
Another really simple song. I feel like it’s a song for people who have gone through hard times but finally found their love.

10. New Slang – The Shins
The Shins are coming out with a new album in March! But until then, enjoy this sweety featured in the Jim Carey film, Eternal Sunlight on a Spotless Mind.

11. Sweet Disposition – The Temper Trap
I first heard this song in a preview for Bonarroo last year. It inspired me to love the Bonarroo lineup and maybe it will inspire you to love your significant other!

12. Skinny Love – Bon Iver
Well this couldn’t not be on here. If you are trying to learn a song on guitar to play to your other this Valentines Day, this may be your best bet.

13. Tonight – Lykke Li
Lykke Li is the bomb. She is so Swedish. She just wants to be loved! I’ll give her some love.

14. You’re the Good Things – Modest Mouse
Changing the mood with this one. I think the title says it all.

15. 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover – Paul Simon
For those of you who are not enjoying your relationship this holiday, Paul Simon gives a lot of great ideas for how to get out of it.
