Welcome!

Have you ever:
Wished your iTunes would be more full than it is?
Been embarrassed by having too much (or any) Bruno Mars?
Wanted to sound like a snobby hipster by talking about bands that no one knows?
Wanted to feel something from listening to music?

If you answered yes to any of those questions. This blog is for you!

May 2012 Playlist

-->
Beach House! Beach House! Beach House! Get the Beach House album!!! The Men should be on an earlier playlist, but for some reason I hadn't listened to them till now. Listening to them with the new Cloud Nothings album is a great mix of indie alt rock. It's great to see Jai Paul back. I hope he comes out with an album eventually and not just sporadic singles. I can't emphasize how great the Beach House album is.

Open Your Heart – The Men

An awesome rock band not singing about depression or angst but the awesome life of a rock star: a very fun listen.
Jasmine – Jai Paul
Jail Paul has an amazing track record: two songs released, both gems. For being such an amateur, Jail Paul knows how to use bass amazingly to juxtapose his vocals.
Monoliths – Lotus Plaza
For everyone who thought that Bradford Cox was Deerhunter, look again. Lockett Pundt’s side project Lotus Plaza shows that the great repetitively of Deerhunter is his creation.
When I Grow Up – First Aid Kit
This song isn’t new, but it’s a wonderful cover of Fever Ray. First Aid Kit has great potential to make a big impact in modern folk music.
No Interruption – Hoodie Allen
I have to give a shout out to Jewish rappers. Hoodie Allen is blowing up at colleges all around the country. He also made a guest appearance in a Jake and Amir short.
The Wave – Miike Snow
Its interesting to watch how Miike Snow develops from such a popular song like Animal. They could have gone the route of MGMT and change paths creating experimental songs, but rather their new album sounds like a more experienced product of the first.
I Love It – Icona Pop
I hope that this song becomes as loved as Hello by Martin Solvieg. It’s just as poppy and it’s as summery a song as you can ask for.
Lazuli – Beach House
Lazuli is my favorite song from the new Beach House album. I love the bridged melody and the energy and power expressed during the chorus. Never have I appreciated lapus lazuli so much.
Other People – Beach House
I love the lyrics about the difficulties of maintaining long distance friendships. Its so cool how that distant feeling in conveyed in the dreaminess of the song.
Still I Hear The World Progress - Lushlife and Styles P
